fall intersession CAMP
Camp is for 4th–8th Graders who attend year-round schools.
It will be held at Central Park School for Children Middle School
from September 30–October 4, 2019 (with a showcase on Friday evening at The Pinhook.)
WHAT IS Intersession camp?
GRNC’s intersession day camp is a one-week music and empowerment program for Triangle-area girls, trans youth, and gender-nonconforming youth, in fourth through eighth grade, who attend year-round schools with intersession breaks.
Campers receive instruction on an instrument of their choice, form bands, and write original music with their peers.
Between band practices and instrument instruction, campers attend workshops such as songwriting, self defense, D.I.Y. clothes, zine-making, DJ-ing, body confidence + media literacy, improvisation, effects pedals, sound collage, visionary futures, music herstory, and more!
Throughout the week, campers are mentored in an empowering all-women, trans, nonbinary, and gender-nonconforming environment by seasoned musicians, educators, and activists. The week concludes with a huge concert showcasing the original music of each band at a local venue.
Our camp location during fall of 2019 will be Central Park School for Children Middle School (121 Hunt St. in Durham).
Camper drop-off is from 8:30–9am.
The camp day will run from 9am–5pm, with pick-up at 5pm.
Our aftercare option extends the day until 6pm for a nominal fee.
We offer full and partial financial assistance for qualifying campers! You simply request assistance on the above form.
