MARY ALTA FEDDEMAN
PROGRAM DIRECTOR: Mary Alta has been working with Girls Rock NC for two years, and this will be her third rock camp summer! She finished school at UNC-Chapel Hill in 2015, where she studied women’s and gender studies, creative writing, and journalism. She writes essays, articles, and poetry, and she sometimes plays guitar and yells with her band Space Holder. She also teaches guitar and ukulele to young kids. Mary is always trying to figure out ways to meld making things, growing things, youth empowerment, activism, and community-building. Girls Rock NC shifted her idea of what a supportive, creative, accountable, and empowering community could look like for herself, and bringing that experience to volunteers and campers remains her favorite part working with GRNC.
